Reporting to the Manager, Classroom Technology, Content and Media Production, the Team Lead is an experienced expert that provides leadership and direction to the team while also working as a functioning member of the team.
The leadership duties of the Team Lead include operational management in regard to overseeing service failures, inventory control, ensuring security of data, monitoring adherence to policy, while designing, implementing, and maintaining matrices, processes, and overall best practices. They are responsible for regular reporting.
The Team Lead will adopt best practices of project and change management while leading the team as they develop and maintain strong relationships with customers as well as their direct reports. They will be engaged in hiring, training, assigning work, and performance monitoring, while providing expertise to LT management on service delivery strategy and continual service improvement. They will recognize, analyze, and solve complex business issues and will translate business needs into technically innovative solutions.
As a member of the Audio Visual Team, the position also performs the following duties:
  • Coordination of Audio-Visual Support activities for all SaskPolytech Campuses, including design and support the recording, monitoring, and streaming systems for the medical sim labs
  • Assist with Acquisition of audio-visual equipment including preparing requisitions and monthly reconciliations.
  • Classroom learning space design consultations – determining and evaluating class needs and tools for new buildings and renovations. Follow the stages of the AV project life cycle: Program Phase, Design phase, Installation phase, Verification phase and then the Support phase, producing drawings using the AV specialized drawing program.
  • Responsible for proper installation and upgrades of audio-visual equipment, including campus security surveillance, to ensure proper function and that the equipment is mounted and installed safely and securely for regular classes and special events.
  • Maintain and monitor bookings of AV equipment for staff, students, and external agencies for the campus.
  • Maintains equipment and systems inventory and maintenance schedules, troubleshoots issues and performs repairs, usually while a class is in progress when instructors are frustrated and students are waiting, providing technical advice, recommendations, and issue resolutions. Arranges for outside service repairs as required.
  • Responsible for the end-to-end support of the endpoints associated with the Zoom conferencing system.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
  • Diploma in Audio Visual Technician or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of recent progressive experience in the Educational Technology industry specializing in audio visual technology.
  • Project Management Skills – Working knowledge of the resources required for successful implementation of presentation projects. Working knowledge needed to correctly estimate and commit resources like budgets, space and time for the implementation of these projects
  • Demonstrated ability to schedule, motivate, and supervise staff, and resolve conflicts.
  • Demonstrated efficient and effective verbal, written, and listening communication and facilitation skills. Ability to present, interpret, summarize, and document information from various stakeholders for varying audiences establishing and sustaining strong customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development through personally initiated lifelong learning and the ability to upgrade skills in order to adapt to changing technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of learning space design, procurement, presentation systems installation and maintenance along with basic knowledge of building and electrical codes.
  • Advanced analytical skills – experience and expertise in analyzing and solving issues related to multiple systems along with effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to obtain Avigilon Security Systems operators and managers certification, and Zoom Systems admin skills, and operational knowledge of Touch Control Systems (Crestron).
  • Basic computer, computer peripheral and operating system troubleshooting skills. Skilled in the use of software programs ie., Microsoft Office, (PowerPoint, excel, Word) and the internet as well as media editing software for video, photos, and audio, in both Mac and Windows operating systems.
  • Demonstrated vendor management along with analyzing requirements, specifications and configurations.
  • Ability to use video production techniques with lighting, audio equipment, recording equipment, microphones. Ie., for live event support.
