Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant’s, primary responsibility is assisting our Controller in the continuous advancement and maintenance of our accounting controls and procedures, resulting in accurate and timely monthly and annual reports.

- Assist with month and year-end close processes.
- Prepare journal entries/uploads in a timely and accurate manner.
- Verify receipts, taxes, financial statements, ledgers, and other documents pertaining to finances.
- Ensure compliance with the Canada Revenue Agency Income Tax Act.
- Analyze and provide details on current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statement and other reports.
- Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all activities
- Ensure all month-end financial duties and resulting financial reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Review and update credit and applications using D &B and corporate policies.
- Prepare monthly submission for accounting and monthly remittances.
- Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending standard operating policies and procedures.
- Provide support to the accounting team by acting as a resource to cover staff absences and help during high volume workloads.
Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Preference given to person with CPA designation or equivalent.
- 5+ years Accounting/Financing experience.
- Experience in Manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE) is an asset.
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office products particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of the general accounting practices performed in AR and AP departments.
- Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
- Highly organized and meticulous.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Works well in a team environment.
