Job Description

U-OPTICAL is searching for a talented and qualified optometrist to join our growing practice in Vaughan and Scarborough. As an optometrist, you will be expected to use your skills and knowledge to provide high-quality vision care to our patients. Your duties will include conducting eye examinations, prescribing corrective lenses, and determining patients’ visual alertness.

To qualify for this role, you must be state-licensed and possess in-depth knowledge of eye-related disorders, conditions, and treatment. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented with excellent analytical and communication skills.

Optometrist Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough routine eye inspections.
  • Identify the patient’s visual alertness, field of vision, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness and color blindness.
  • Diagnose, monitor and use non-surgical treatments to deal with eye diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration
  • Spot signs of overall health issues, such as diabetes and high blood pressure
  • Refer patients to ophthalmologists (for further medical treatment or eye surgery) and other medical professionals, as needed
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and medications.
  • Maintain accurate medical files for all patients.
  • Promote eye health by teaching patients about proper eye care techniques.
  • Identify and assess eye defects and diseases such as diabetes and liver failure.
  • Record all diagnosis and treatment plans including transfers and therapeutic prescriptions.
  • Answer questions and provide advice to patients regarding vision and optical issues.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service through all patient interactions.
  • Direct staff and assist in the development of the overall practice.

Optometrist Requirements:

  • Doctor of optometry (O.D.) degree.
  • Must possess a state-issued license for O.D. and optometry.
  • A minimum of 2 years ‘experience as an Optometrist.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of eye-related disorders and conditions.
  • Customer service oriented with excellent analytical skills.

Preference for recruitment will be given for candidates who have experience with or are interested to develop skills in:

  • Dry eye treatment procedures
  • Myopia control management
  • Low vision assessment and management
  • Specialty contact lens fitting

Job Specific Requirements:

Preference for recruitment will be given for those who:

  • Can travel attend both Vaughan and Scarborough sites
  • Can commit to a minimum of 2 days per week including 2 Saturdays per month at either or both above sites
  • Can commit to at least 1 late shift per week.

Salary and Compensation:

Will be discussed in interview.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $93,009.80-$106,560.87 per year
