The incumbent is responsible for planning, maintaining, and installing electrical and communications wiring. This includes fibre optics and all related electrical testing for all college campuses. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining and repairing existing electrical systems and planning for and installing new wiring
  • Running and testing communication wiring (Cat5e, Cat6a, fibre optics, and unrated cable)
  • Welding, painting, and grinding as part of fabrication and installation processes

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicant must have an Ontario C of Q (Certification of Qualification) - Electrician
  • Master Electrician License preferred
  • Current registration with Ontario College of Trades
  • A valid up-to-date Z462 certificate
  • Three years’ related electrical experience preferably in an institutional/industrial/commercial environment
  • Knowledge of local building codes, Ontario electrical codes, and TIA/EIA guidelines for cabling
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Organizational and planning skills to coordinate deadlines and materials during a renovation, etc.
  • Communication skills, both oral and written, to relay or seek information
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position lifting up to and over 44 lbs. of equipment
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work at heights
  • G Class driver’s license needed to drive college vehicle and to travel to various campuses
  • Familiar with BAS (Building Automation Systems) including Lutron lighting, Siemens integration, Carrier integration
