*Position Overview*

Reporting to the Beekeeping Team Regional Manager, Canada, the Beekeeping Team Manager, Alberta, oversees the Beekeeping Team and operations for their district. The district of Alberta includes: Calgary and Edmonton.

This is a full-time position in accordance with Alvéole’s current policies.

Start Date: January 9th, 2023

*Role and responsibility*

- Manage a team of about 6 Beekeepers, and 1 Lead Beekeeper.
- Ensure and promote developmental and succession planning for the district.
- Hire, manage, train, and support new and existing beekeepers.
- Hire, train and manage a team of 3 seasonal staff for the honey harvest period.
- Coach and guide the team to grow and develop professionally by:
- Creating an inspiring environment with an open communication culture.
- Helping set and meet reasonable and attainable personal and professional goals
- Motivating team members
- Listening to feedback and resolve issues and conflicts
- Encouraging creativity and risk taking
- Providing formal and informal feedback
- Support the Lead Beekeeper in overseeing beekeeping operations, including rooftop installation, care of new hives and routine maintenance schedules, if applicable.
- Work with the Lead Beekeeper and Beekeeping Field Specialist to plan for the beekeeping season.
- Implement standard operating procedures to ensure quality service, practices and client experience.
- Help the Beekeeping Team manage accounts and build relationships with businesses, schools and other organizations through in-person and online communication tools.
- Oversee the ongoing strategy for city growth and development by working with the sales team and other internal departments to ensure a clear and successful growth strategy.
- Propose beekeeping projects to potential new clients with the help of Alvéole sales and marketing teams.
- Oversee inventory and maintenance of warehouse facilities, operating vehicles, beekeeping equipment and supplies specifically as it relates to budget and operational big picture planning.
- Participate in workgroups, and collaborate with other Beekeeping Team Managers to develop tools and processes related to training and operations of the city.
- Ensure efficient and economical performance in accordance with operating budgets, year end goals and objectives.
- Review and analyze team performance, including financial and productivity data; implement the appropriate adaptations in strategies, goals and objectives as a result.
- Attend all relevant meetings including, but not limited to, Beekeeping Team Management Meetings and District Sales Meetings.
- Travel to Edmonton regularly and/or based on need.
- Handle miscellaneous duties, clerical tasks and responsibilities as defined by management.

Requirements

- Based out of Calgary
- Management and/or leadership experience
- Degree or certifications in business, management or related fields is an asset
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Commitment to learning the principles of beekeeping and urban greening through company training and personal initiative
- Comfortable with the reality of beekeeping hazards (stings, heavy lifting, inclement weather, etc.)
- Comfortable working at heights
- Comfortable with online communications, GSuite tools and CRM platform
